What Tattoos Did John Constantine's Arms

Mammon wasn't gone, and John knew that. Mammon was not actively trying to hook his way out, at this bespeak, but the danger was withal there, as we saw when Chaz, flush with pride afterward the apparent victory, took pride in their achievement and was killed for his troubles.* Merely despite the fight, Mammon couldn't come out on his own, he had to accept help.

But John wasn't working on Mammon at the moment; John was trying to bring forth whatever that 'Assistance' was.

We know from the prophecy in the Hellish Bible that Mammon would need aid; the heroes assume that the Claret on the Spear volition do the chore. What they don't know is that it needs a heavenly agency to actually do the freeing. The flick that goes with the prophecy shows the Spear, but if you look, it's being used by an Affections. (The audience sees this, simply since John and Angela are driving and having info relayed to them by Beeman, this essential chip of information is missed by our Heroes. Beeman saw information technology, but never had a adventure to tell them.)

Releasing Mammon

Any beingness (Gabriel) was helping was doing so from the shadows, staying unseen. John finally realized that at that place was someone else helping Mammon and was attempting to force the 'helper' into the light. Gabriel didn't intervene, as it would appear at first look, so much as John forced him to show himself. Note John's start annotate when Gabriel appears: "Gabriel... information technology figures.'

Also, if you find, while John was giving his 'command', you see a shadowy pair of wings announced and somewhen coagulate into the form of Gabriel. Gabriel comments that 'Your ego is phenomenal' when he appears; the idea that John could in whatever style 'command' him to appear seeming to amuse him. (More foreshadowing; per tradition no one save God could control an Affections (unlike demons; they could be commanded past invoking God'due south power), but shortly later on, Friction match comments that 'Looks like somebody doesn't accept your back anymore...', when Gabriel tries to smite him with God'south power/support. John may well take forced Gabriel to prove himself, and Gabriel just thought that he had chosen to exercise so on his own.)

  • In addition, Chaz existence killed did serve a purpose; information technology looked similar they had cast Mammon out and allowing our Heroes to think that would have served the demonic purposes better. But, as Beta points out, Mammon couldn't take killed him from the other side; since the taunting results in Chaz's death, John realizes that there must exist someone else there. Gabriel's disability to permit John think he had won and ignore the taunting ends up costing him his victory. This foreshadows Match's response to John's gesture before long after.

Gabriel'south fate is foreshadowed, too -- the FIRST picture we see of Mammon in the Hellish Bible shows the same figures as the second (above; poised with the Spear of Destiny),.. except the Angel shown in one case Mammon is free no longer has wings.
